Help! 1st Shots Of New Airline Go! Rejected.

Tue May 09, 2006 1:24 pm

I went to the airport today and got pictures of the new Airline Go! and they all got rejected. The plane was parked right next to a fence so it was really hard shooting through it. The e-mail did say they were screened by a screener in training.

Should I appeal any of these?
Anyone think they could help fix these?

Brian, ever heard of NOA_double? Why upload so many shots that look almost the same?
I have to say that the quality is simply not there and of most of them the angle is off. None of them show the whole airplane either.
Since it's new, it'll be around a while longer so perhaps you can get some better shots in the future.
cheers,
E

Edit: Eduard beat me to the punch, but here it goes.

First, I would start by reading the upload faq:
http://www.airliners.net/faq/#5

Second, take a second to read the instructions on the upload page. I know the feeling when you have the hot shots that you want to get up in an instant, but getting around the rules doesn't get photos up any faster*.
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/

As for your pictures, take a look through the database to compare your shots. It's a lot easier to get shots up that have a motive similar to other pictures in the database. Rather than focusing on each photo, here are a few tips, try to get a shot with the whole plane in it. It is much easier to crop down than it is to back out after the fact. Take a look in the forums for workflows and guides to sharpening your photos. I can see some noise introduced by the sharpen tool around text in each of the photos. There are plenty of resources here to help you work a photo once you've shot it.

These shots probably wont make it into the database. There still aren't any pictures of these planes in the database yet, so if you have the opportunity to get out and try again or get them in flight, you'll be set. Take a look above and think about it next time you are out with your camera. I'd be happy to help you out any further if you wish. You are already over the hump getting your first shot into the database. Just keep shooting and you'll be set.

cheers,

I have to agree with Eduard (IL76) here. It seems that you have (I hope it is not had) ramp access, so go back if you can and try again. Submit just one of the whole aircraft with good quality and you will probably get yourself a priority upload, maybe a banner and a lot of hits....if no-one beats you to it !

It is a common fallacy that different is the same as good. That advice from AviatorTJ is very sound. Before you try to bend or break the rules you really need to know them well.

Sorry to say this, but I think you have missed a really rare opportunity.

Hmmm... a bit excessive.

First of all, this screams NOA_double without even viewing a single shot.
After viewing all shots, NOA_motiv would probably be a case even prior to any quality review.

Sorry... but although it's great to get some ramp shots, the close proximity to the aircraft and inability to really see an appropriate portion of the aircraft, really lend towards poor motivation.

Thankfully it's at the start of service. This means we're likely to see more shots from you of this aircraft (if it was the only shot and it was ending service, we would probably consider a shot).

We look forward to your future submission and anyone else who can upload a shot of the aircraft (showing a bit more than the ramp shots above).

Regards,

Glenn

Guys he did say in the original post that he shot through the fence.
He didn't have ramp access .
But its a shame not even a single shot can be used some how.
Cheers

True. It seems like a really nice scheme!

And given it is new... we'll all be sure to see it when another shot of it is accepted one day (or better still.... we actually see it in the flesh).

I dont have ramp access. The plane was right up agaisnt the fence that is why I couldnt get a full shot. Unless a shot with a fence could get accepted I guess I will have to wait until they move it.

Thanks everyone for your input

If you have access to a super wide angle lens you can get good shots with an aircraft at a fence line. This was taken at 10mm on top of the fence between barbed wire. Just an idea.

Sorry to hear you couldn't get a clean shot. That is a nice catch, don't give up though!  biggrin

funny comment, considering the rockbottom quality shot of Virgin America that hit the DB quicker than quick.
what seems to be the officer, problem?

I understand the quality thats obvious. But for example this picture even though it shows all the title is it still motive because it is not the whole plane or not just the nose.

Wow, thanks for sharing the photos, hope you can get better shots next time!

On the side note, I wonder when this bird will be delivered to HNL. Does anyone know?

Thanks!

Great job, way to keep trying. Nice to see a new airline and a colorful C/S.
