Will These Make It?

Fri May 12, 2006 10:07 pm

Hi,

I've edited some photos taken in March.
Since I'm rather new, I would appreciate your help finding possible reject reasons.

Here are the shots:

Both photo's seem to have some sort of 'pinkish' colour cast on them unless it's my eyes.

Andersosl,

Both very nice images. On my works monitor they both look a little soft. Apart from that they are very nice images!

The first one is backlit - a pity.

The second one is soft.

Thanks !

I will try to fix the softness if it's possible.

BTW, what is your unsharp mask-settings?

Poor lighting on the first. Both are soft. Second is a nice shot I would do a re-edit on the second one.

It depends on the shot. There is no hard and fast rule.

A couple of suggestions:

Sharpen just the aircraft, not the whole image. Do a first sharpening at 0.2, 0, 500, then experiment with 0.3, 0, xxx.

Ok, I have sharpened the pic once more. Is it any better?
Is it oversharped?

It looks better. However, it looks oversharpened, this is evident by the pixilated registration and winglets. I think everything else is fine. I am not sure how you would fix that though.

Hi, I would also change the cropping if your original allows (I would put the aircraft slightly higher in the frame to give it a more balanced look: centering the fuselage would be too much because there is also the tail section to take into account).

It is a nice picture, but to me also the snow (although it is nature  Smile ) in the right lower corner distracts a bit from the subject, so if possible - if the original allows - I would try to see wheter a crop closer to the tail section would not give better focus on the subject... just my thought...

Best regards,

Walter
