Photo 989943 As Ad

Fri May 19, 2006 12:26 pm

On another thread in civil av I noticed Axel Fabeck's picture in an ad. I was wondering if they had his permission or not. Pardon my curiousity!

Maybe, maybe not but would it perhaps be better to contact the photographer directly rather than publicly attacking the integrity of the advertiser?

If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

I can accept that but if I was the advertiser reading that message and others in past threads I might take it as an implied accusation.

Cheers

I've contacted photogs in the past about misused photos on other sites. After hardly any of them ever even responded, I don't even bother anymore.

errr i think the first photo you have linked (and is also beside my textbox as i write!) is an incredibly bad choice to advertise anything to do with flying

Gary,

I think you are right on that one. As I write this I have the advert next to me on the right, showing that photo with the port engine on fire. I would love to know the thinking behind the decision to use that in such an advert. I see the link at the bottom of the ad is 'lovemyseat.com'. My guess is the people sitting on that aircraft looking out of the window to the left would have preferred to be sitting somewhere very different.

The day this picture appeared on a.net I wrote to Axel and asked him how he did it, he replied within about an hour. This was before all the explanation was in the info box below the picture. So he may reply if someone asks about the use of this photo.

I'm not saying no photogs respond, I'm just saying none of the ones I contacted did.
