RE: Are These Any Good?

Hello Jeroen.

Here are some brief comments from me:

1 - I would predict a NOA_Motive for this one, as the guy is the primary subject, not the aircraft.

2 - A very nice shot. If I was being extra picky I would say I would have liked to have seen that flap at the bottom right corner complete, not cropped. Overall the quality of this one looks nice.

3 - I'm less keen on this one. The aircraft off to the left slightly spoils the motive for me and the underside of the wing looks very dark.

4 - I find this one a bit tricky. The tail looks very slightly soft to me and I would be tempted to crop it a bit differently, forgetting about the horizontal stabiliser and cropping that so that the two engines are more balanced in the shot. As it stands the main subject looks slightly off to the left, and I think cropping a bit out of the right would improve the look of the shot.

5 - That's a centre rejection for me - too high in the frame as it is now.

6 - Once again too high in the frame, though a very striking shot with the contrast of the fuselage and those black clouds. The top of the tail and the wings is also very slightly soft.

Good luck with what you end up uploading.

Paul gives some excellent, constructive feedback I must say. Kudos, Paul.

My own feedback:

1 - I agree with Paul, motive being the person won't make it. Cool shot though for the personal collection. Wonder what he tells people when asked what he does for a living?

2 - I like this one, quality seems good. Love the wing flex and the contrails. Also would like to see the right edge of the flap.

3 - I kind of like this one, great angle. For me the background aircraft isn't as distracting as the fact the main gear is cut off.

4 - I would balance the aircraft as well, but that could risk getting rejected for part of the aircraft missing. Depends on how it looks when re-cropped.

5/6 - what do I know about centering? I thought number 6 was low in the frame. I guess my theory of centering the fuselage and then making sure it looks/feels right may not work. Anyway, I am interested to see how this one works out.

Good luck!

The last three look better.

Personally I wouldn't change the crop on #4, cutting off the horizontal stab would be too distracting I think.
