Tame A320, Need Help

Fri Jun 02, 2006 4:51 pm

Hi,

I have uploaded the following photos:

Lately I'm having problems with my photos being too soft and I also have problems with the softness vs. (over)sharpness issue. Can anyone help me out with this dilemma?

Thanks,

Roger

Personally I think it's much harder to get these images looking just right at that size. If you resize them to 1024x683 for example you might find that the quality will be improved and what might have been a rejection or marginal acceptance at 1200 will be a more easy pass at 1024.

Hmm, thanks ZSOFN. I am looking at the size as well. Does the size of a photo have an noticable effect on the softness/sharpness of the photo? Thanks.

Off topic, but nice rampshot of Ryanair you have there ZSOFN. Like the stewardesses getting off the aircraft  Wink

I suppose that looking at a larger image is like taking out a magnifying glass; any error in softness/sharpness will be enhanced at a larger size. Effectively, having your image at a smaller size stops people getting "too close" to it!

I would say that your second shot out of the 3 you posted is too soft, might still be once you've sized it down a little. Quite a lot of red fringing unfortunately too. All in all I'd say all 3 are a little soft, with some areas, particularly around the engines, being particularly soft.

Try resizing to 1024x, then apply some USM (try 500%, 0.2px, threshold 0). Hope that helps.
