Covered Up Helicoptor

Fri Jun 16, 2006 11:42 am

I would like to start this thread with a request: Please dont argue over/about this photo and please be objective.

This photo just got rejected for Motiv. Yes I know Motiv is a highly talked about subject here and this thread will annoy some of you but please be objective.

Here is the photo:
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20060616_06.04.01_NO_REG_X39.jpg

My Questions/Objectives are:
a.) Why was this Rejected for Motiv?
I.) I undersatnd that airplanes with covers on are often rejected for motive
However this is different it is an airport operation as the result of
an incident.
II.) I had everyone's permission to upload the photo. every appendage
visible is of someone at the airport who have verbally told me that
it is ok to upload the photo with them in it.
b.) Is it worth appealing? I have a drastically falling acceptance ratio 80%
down to 52% in other words one more rejection and my que limit plummets.
c.) is it possible to get it in the database.

Thank you and the only reason I made it sound so objective is because of the "argueing" going on about the cabin shot thread about champaing.

Paul.

So where's the aircraft?  Wink

I agree with the motive rejection, though.

Quoting Pauara (Thread starter):
Is it worth appealing?

No.

Quoting Pauara (Thread starter):
is it possible to get it in the database?

..after it's un-wrapped and flying again...sure.

Besides..it's not level, and it's grainy.

Sorry Paul... with the aircraft completely covered and people to boot, this shot really isn't acceptable. I would recommend against appeal.

But great to see you trying to get rare shots. If you're in a similar spot again and something is there in a similar state (but uncovered), then it should be a high hitter.

Being objective, I believe the 'motiv' rejection was justified.

There is an aircraft in the shot, but it is not visible. Covers on aircraft cockpits are a totally different issue.

Thank you. I will not appeal it. Luckily there are often helicopters there. Would a helicoptor getting lifted into a simi trailer be worth uploading as long as the helicopter is visible?

Yes, I think so.

Even though some may think that, as the photographer's brother, I'm biased, I do think this is actually a rather interesting motive that should have been accepted to the database. (Allow me to say that I am one of his harshest critics... of the latest 10 photos he got accepted to take him over the 100 mark, I would have rejected at least two for quality and level  Wink.)

Hi all

Bad motive and a biased advert for Duct Tape.

Helicopter and not Helicoptor.

Regards

Gary
