Which Of The Two Is Best On Your Screen?

Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:10 pm

Hello again,

I am trying to understand how my screen at home is working compared to what the screeners prefer as to contrast and colour. I also want to avoid DARK, but then have a tendency to go too far in the other direction.

Which one of the two below do you prefer (to put it diplomatically, as I do not you if any of them are 100% up to Airliners' standards)?

1.

Thanks a lot in advance for your interest,

Frippe

PS
Forgot the vital information that nr 1 was already rejected for Contrast.

Id have to go with the first one. Number 2 seemed a little on the dark side. But im not an expert when it comes to photogrophy. Hope I was a little help.

The first one is just a little brighter to me, but may get bad dark anyway due to it being backlit

Im affraid this photos doesn't stand much chance due to it being backlit and also lacking in contrast, nice motive though, if you could get the sun behind you I can see some nice shots being achieved.

Thanks a lot to you all so far.

And for sure I would like to change the position av the major runway at NYO to enable me to have the sun behind me not only in the morning. But the truth is that the photo is not backlit, only sidelit so that the pilots are more or less facing the setting sun. I am afraid that will not help me much, but so far I am a little worried that many of you prefer nr 1 since that is the one rejected for contrast.

Time will tell me when nr 2 is due for screening. Please feel free in the meantime to add anything else you can tell me in this matter,

Frippe

I agree with everybody.

I agree that the first is better, and both are too backlit for A.net.

Nice try though...  Smile

Well i think image 2 has better colour , and in fact seems a tad sharper.

But there both to dark due to being back lit. May be a better subject photo would be an idea to compare.

Hello again,

As you suggested Simon I am now daring to come back with the same question about two slightly different edits. This time it was before 7 AM so the sun was shining on my back and straight on the plane.

Which is now the best looking on your screen?

2.

And is the best of them good enough to be accepted, do you think?

Thanks again in advance,
Frippe

Hello again,

Still not satisfied and finding the two above a bit to bright in the white parts I made another one - before giving it up - Smile

Better or not?

Hi Frippe

In my opinion the second one is the better edit, quality looks good to me

Hello again,

After your input I have decided to go with the one below and have pulled the other two:

Now I will wait and see, but thanks to you I feel a bit more confident. And whatever happens it was a wonderful way of starting a new day to go out there so early before work,

Hello again,

Thanks to your help the one I went for was accepted a couple of minutes ago.
So now I know a bit more about how my screen is calibrated compared to how the screeners want the photos to look like in contrast and colour.
Thanks,
Frippe

Congratulations on that acceptance Frippe. I know how much hard work went into getting that edit just right.

Well done.
