Bradley,

Yes, I got to agree with the first rejection I'm afraid. I really like the second one and it probably stands a good chance with some editing. However, at the moment it's not level and so I'd take it out of the queue. I think there is also a slight colour cast there too.

I agree, needs some CCW rotation, and it does look better when you mess with the colors a bit.

I think the second photo is excellent, being a MAN resident it's nice to see this photo. If Im being picky I'd say you are still bordering on the over exposed with it, also the sign in front of the main under carriage is distracting. If you need any further help drop me a line, good job though.  Smile

#1 is overexposed.

#2 Is a great photo but i think it will get rejected on motive as the wheel is covered. Which is a real shame as no matter how much you edit it your not going to fix it !!!  Sad

Good effort though.  Smile

What a strange place this is. I always thought that untouched photos would be the favourites to be passed, but sadly that doesn't appear to be the case. Of course, I totally agree with the "not level" aspect, since I am rather fussy about that in my film footage. Nevertheless, "editing" photos is completely baffling to me.

We have all been there and there could not be a better place for advice.
That advice that you have already been given is spot on and I would remove the queued image.
The bottom one is a superb capture, superb, but under the AFS rule (Always Flipping (!) Something) rule first suggested by Fergul McClean, the yellow sign is most unfortunate. It would almost certainly lead to a motive rejection.

I'm not sure if you misunderstood me or not, but I will clarify my point of view.

When I stated that "editing photos is baffling to me", I meant that I couldn't understand why a site would accept "edited" photos, but reject untouched photos because of a minor issue like that partially obscured wheel.

Well, that's how I see it, anyway.

Are you saying that people shouldn't touch their photos at all out of the camera?  Confused

Harry,

Well, I'm no expert at photography, so forgive me if I am simply being naive. It's just that "touching up photos" is a completely alien concept to me. I mean, you either take a decent photo, or you do not. I don't see why anyone should need to edit their photos.

Just look on the cover of any magazine. Do you think those shots came straight out of the camera? Wakey, wakey, the lights are on but no-one's home. Big grin

You should always strive to take the best photos straight out of the camera, but the fact is, to get photos looking professional, a certain amount of post processing is necessary. Working in Photoshop is similar to working in the darkroom 100 years ago.

And I was burning and dodging in the darkroom before I was doing it in Photoshop, and let me tell you, it is much easier in Photoshop.  Wink

The wheel being obscured is simply an issue of back luck. If you had taken two or three shots in sequence, you'd likely have one that didn't have the yellow sign there. That shot seems slightly oversaturated to me too. Photos are edited, because it is virtually impossible, with the best camera in the world to get a shot 100% level, 100% in the centre of the frame and looking sharp for viewing with a monitor.

No real need for that comment to someone who is asking for help.

Tim.

Tim,

I wasn't asking for help, since I am more into filming than photography. I am also well aware that photographs in magazines have been "post processed". It's just that I didn't think that photos uploaded to Airliners.net actually needed to be edited.

Anyway, I'll retreat back into my cave now, and let the professionals get on with it  Wink
