Help With A Rejection

Tue Jul 11, 2006 11:06 am

Had this rejected for Quality, a rejection I don't necessarily agree with.

Opinions and comments on how to improve this shot are welcomed because I couldn't tell you the last time I had anything rejected for it's lack of quality with my trusty D60. Perhaps the new 30D that took this image is crap and needs to be replaced and my D60 put back into service?!

My call, harsh rejection...... you may think it's fair and I'd like to hear why!

If that is bad quality... How did my 12 shots squeeze to the DB?

I'm not a professional photographer, but this shot looks pretty spot on to me ! Very, very nice indeed. Colour and composition look outstanding.
If I had to level any form of criticism, or rather - an 'observation' - it would be the armco railing featured in the foreground - otherwise, this photo is outstanding!

I could only wish to be able to return images like yours!

Hi Craig,

To be really pickey, I notice jaggies (only slight) on the trailing edge of tail, horizontal stabiliser, and leading edge of wing. Plus I think the shot suffers from a slight amount of heat haze. But thats being really pickey on what to me seems a great shot.

Pretty harsh from my perspective...
I wonder if the screener(s) thought the rather ragged edge of the decal around the Root fairning were jaggies?

Just a thought!!

Oh BTW great shot.

Regards

Chris

PS maybe Socceroos liveried aircraft are screened by the same Referees that the team had to contend with!!
If your camera sends text messages, that could explain why your photos are rubbish!

I'm thinking maybe the railing persuaded the screener to go with the quality rejection.
But hey this one is a really nice shot and i cant comment on quality other then that.

Maybe they where.

It's not your camera Craig, looks like you sharpened the whole image to me. Just try it again, selectively....

Well Craig, I guess you have to appeal.  Wink

If there's something I can say about that photo, this is it: STUNNING!

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments everyone, I hadn't appealed because I didn't want to waste anyones time if the shot was a complete flop!

Jeff, selective sharpening was applied.... sharpening is one thing I try to keep to an absolute minimum, I really dislike oversharpend images. There is a light heat haze over the lower portions of the image but certainly within what I believe to be reasonable as far as airliners.net goes.

Cheers to Gary and Royal for the comments, appreciated. I'll head off for another tinny in the dunny right after I submit the appeal Gary! Good onya cobber!

Hi Craig,

The link doesn't work anymore. Could you post the image? The comments made me curious.

Cheers, Thomas
