How's Your Acceptance Ratio Doing?

Wed Jul 12, 2006 4:43 am

A few months ago my acceptance ratio was at about 34% and now I've managed to pull it back up to 76%. How are you doing? Has your's increased or decreased a lot either way in the last few months?  Smile

It's been better. Only 80% at the moment. Just 'slacking' off I guess.

So you're saying that screening standards have declined?

A few months ago my acceptance ratio was 74% but now it has gone down to 40%! In the beginning of this year, the ratio was about 38% and before that it was steady in 50%.

There are 20 photos waiting in the Q to either push my ratio up or down.  Smile

Currently 56% only, should increase over the next weeks though. Not too much artsy stuff to upload lately...

Has been higher months ago but I couldn't care less.

My ratio varies from 60 to 84 last 4 month. Most rejections were dirty, level, info, motive... I'm working on it!

I've been at 80% beginning of this year, then, I've gone down to 25%, after some bad series (11 uploaded, 11 rejections and stuff like that).

These days have been better and I'm now back to 70%  Wink

Was in the 70s at the start of the year, dropped to the 50s (ironically after I upgraded from an Olympus C-740 to a Canon 350D) but slowly regained ground and now stands at 80%. My main problem has been getting the sharpening right. Hopefully I'm better at it now.

Not meaning anything bad towards you Eduard but makes me feel better knowing even screeners go through these sort of stuff.
Mine was also at 88% until a few rejections and an appeal got it down to 84% but I'm not complaining not sure how long it will stay there thou  Smile

All shots were carefully selected and pre-screened and uploaded on 5 different days and I've got some 20-30 more photos waiting to be edited and uploaded so I need to be pushing a little bit before my next major photoshooting.
Anyway, it's not my fault the screeners work so slowly...  Wink  duck

Was at around 70% a few months back - had a bad run lately - But I'm now being really harsh on myself so only got 4 or 5 in the Q. Also doing my bit to help with the Q size.

So, I ditched the compact, and bought a D50......I hope to get at least 1 accepted. I'm avidly following all the advice given out (esp. by the screeners!), only time will tell......

I'm currently at 70%. I also have more in queue right now than I've ever had, so that 70% may get blown into oblivion. I think most of the shots in my upload queue are of decent quality, but I'm still at the point where shots of mine that I think are borderline get accepted, while shots I think are stellar get rejected. If I were a betting man, I'd put money on me having a lower upload limit in about a week or so... expect the worst and you'll never be disappointed!

I've gone from 26% just a few months ago to a high of 84%, but I have sunk to 80% in the last few days. I've got 35 in the queue and some are a little risky (mostly scans from older slides), so I'm eager to see how I do.

Switching from a KonicaMinolta Dimage Z5 to a Canon PowerShot S2 IS and then to a Canon PowerShot S3 IS has helped a lot and Helicon filter has done wonders in reducing noise. I took 1800+ pictures (6-10 per aircraft) at the EAA Arlington Fly-In, in perfect weather and these should boost my ratio.

That's why I don't appeal anymore. Too many times I just get a new reason the photo should stay rejected.

Appeals knocked my acceptance rate down somewhere around 18% I'd guess. I'm back up to 38% now.

One photo in the queue.

Currently standing at 72%. The lowest it's been since I first started uploading. Just don't seem to have been hitting the right quality lately, even in good light. Having said that, my account was hijacked a couple of months back and I asked for my uploads to be deleted, which all counted as 'personal' rejections against me. A little unfair perhaps, but what can I do?

Tim.

Down from 80% (in May) to 36% - mainly for CONTRAST & MOTIVE.

One of these motive rejections was particularly annoying, as about 24 hrs later, an almost identical photo by another photographer made it to top of the day...
