Crop Opinions

Fri Jul 14, 2006 2:54 pm

When I pressed the shutter button I cut the wing tip off. I have two different crops and can't decide which one I like better. Just want some opinions of what looks better.

Crop 1
Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 682 File size: 347kb

Crop2
Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 683 File size: 373kb

Thanks,
Erick

If it was up to me i would include the T7 gears in the shot they look fantastic.
If that's the edit you will go with i would centre the crop a bit higher in the frame if you decide on this option

I agree, it looks odd without the gear.

The more I look at this shot the more I feel something is wrong. Is it lacking quality? Is it soft? I can't put my finger on it.

hmmm...  sigh   pessimist

It's grainy and way too bright.
Personally I don't like the crop too much neither; the 777 is too long and too slim in relation to the length in my opinion.

The color being off is the first thing I noticed.

That's what I needed. I am throwing my monitor out the window. It is like hit or miss when I edit. I had a string of wonderful photos then a string of crap. I think my 7 years old CRT has finally had it.

I'll clear out the queue until I get a new monitor and calibrate it.
Thanks guys.

Honestly, I'd scrap the whole shot and IMHO it's not worth uploading.

Harsh.... perhaps.

First off, I really don't like the right hand crop. The piece of building in the botom right is very distracting and it looks like the AC is landing on the building. As cloning it out isn't allowed, the frame simply doesn't work.

If you still want to upload, the main gear has to be included.

Also, I personally do not like the "squeeze it in the frame" technique at the front of the AC. The aircraft needs some room to "breathe" in the frame and I've never been a fan (and never open) images that are cropped that tight.

As noted by others, the color, brightness/contrast and sharpness are all less than ideal.

A good one for the personal collection.
