BadInfo Rejection

Sat Jul 29, 2006 9:29 pm

I was unable to get any registration numbers on this FA-18, but I thought I put the missing info in the correct format; the FAQ says:
"For military aircraft, list the serial in the registration field and the additional code if any in the code field. USAF and USArmy aircraft are listed with the full serial including the fiscal year, e.g. 43-12453 or 85-0035, for the US Navy use the full six-digit BuAer number, e.g. 160457."
I wasnt able to get the serial number either, so is this just a write-off?

Thanks

Looks like '165405' to me. USN and USAF regs can easily be found via the Scramble database (www.scramble.nl).

Thanks.
Scramble appears to be down this morning, I've never heard of it before.
Were my asterisks in the wrong format? That was the only reason it was rejected.

Sorry Giovanni, it's not 165405. Ever since the 1960's US military codes are not directly related to the registration anymore.

No, the asterisks were used properly. But perhaps the photo was rejected for not having the code filled in. If you do not know the reg, it would have been acceptable to upload this as ****** / SD-405. The code can be read, so it should be filled in.

According to the Scramble website the only F/A-18 that used this code is F/A-18A 163093. Cn is 475/A391.

Hope this helps,

Aad.

Are you paying members at scramble? Without a membership I was unable to search by aircraft type.
Thanks Tameteora.

No, we're not paying. At least I am not. There's no need to search by aircraft type. That would result in a very long list of all F/A-18's anyway. Not very practical.

Simply enter the code "SD-405" in the code field, and it will list three aircraft that carry or have carried that code. Only one of them is a F/A-18, and that should be your aircraft.

Okay... Glad I only get the USAF (iso USN) planes here, they are much more straightforward... Big grin

165405 seems to be an F/A-18, though...

True. Smile

But it carries code NE-414, so it will have 414 on the nose, and NE in the tail.
