World Airline Fleet News, No More.

Wed Aug 02, 2006 6:14 am

Hi

Sad news that World Airline Fleet news is no longer. Ok Anet has had some part in its downfall as who wants to buy a mag to see photos that have been seen weeks ago on ANET! But its not many years ago that this was the only way to see new Airlines from around the World and some of the top photographers on Anet today started with photos in WAF, and WAF set the standard of high quality ramp shots in good weather.

Tony

Sad news indeed.

Was a fantastic magazine and I still have heaps of them when they were A5 size before they progressed onto A4. The quality if the images was superb.

Very sad news. I remember when I started this hobby I would see photos in WAFN and was amazed at the quality. When I had my first photo published in WAFN I was excited as heck. I have always enjoyed seeing my work displayed in such quality....will certainly be missed.

This is tragic news, I too remember that if you could get your photo in that mag you were really doing well. The quality of the photos was second to none with sunny side on ramp shots of all the latest stuff, Im truely gutted this is a big loss. Sad

Oh dear, so sad to hear of this. WAFN was a great magazine and I remember the pride of having a few of my pics in the magazine.

It WAS the standard for photography before all of this digital thing.

What a shame!!! I was a really nice and great magazine!!! But don't blame a.net/inter perhaps some other issues are involved. WAFN is gone but if it still wasn't a good business many other magazines would have also disappeared by now.

Lets hope we can keep the WAFN standard going on ANET, but will need a new reject reason of take the shot standing on the sunny side of the aircraft! Lets call it rejected for bad WAFN..

I agree, unlike some I believe you can't beat a perfect sunny side on shot. It's how all the traders and collectors want them and they can't all be wrong.Just taste i guess but it's defo sunny side on for me.

Hi all

In my opinion it was the best aviation photo magazine around.

The reason I stopped subscribing was the availability of images on-line. It got to the point I was seeing the same stuff in the magazine.

A big loss to the community... I'll miss it a lot. Always annoyed me how bloody great those images were!!!!! A shame to lose such a fantastic publication. Wonder whose head's on the chopping board next....?  cry

Hi all

For those with issue 141, July 1999, a very nice Britannia 737 on the back cover taken by Jan Mogren while issue 143 is hogged by Mr Hunt  Smile

It also featured photography from aviation photographers who do not upload here. Along with the news reports and fleet changes, it was a unique publication that will be sorely missed.
