Yep, VERY busy!
I was away for 2 days without Internet access and when I checked in this morning I saw that 3 days' uploads of mine had been screened and they weren't even yet in screening when I last checked.
Keep going guys!  bigthumbsup

Hi all

Yes, my fellow screeners are doing a good job.

I just hope this thread attracts as much interest and replies as other threads which query the size of the queue  bitelip

Nah, that would mean we would have to post silly replies like "nice work screeners", "we love you Gary". No way, you guys don't deserve that. Johan has been letting you slack off for years, it's about time he locked you guys up in cages and whipped you while you screened. Way to go Johan!!     [Gary]

You all deserve that thank you!

I'd like to add my thanks too, particularly as in during the time the screeners have brought the queue down to this level from 15k+ they have still taken the time to add personal notes to my my rejections to help me get better. Well done to all.

Nice work, Screeners! We love you, Gary!

Now, is the queue low because of screener work or becuase no one has been uploading? (kidding)

Johan's crackin the whip! Get that shit down to zero! haha

But seriously, good work. I haven't uploaded in a bit and was planning on doing some this evening.

Thanks for your efforts, guys.

Well - I have some things in the queue now so I can see the upload statistics. This just confirms for me that the new upload limits have not had a monstrous impact on the upload queue over recent times. The vast majority of the queue reduction appears to be down to the hours put in by the screening team.

My congratulations for that. I just wish you hadn't rejected my images in the process  wink .

I applaud all the attempts to get the queue right down because I still think this is in the best interests of all here - photographers, viewers and all.

Long may this continue.

All the best.

Seriously, well done to all. Good to see the Q at a sensible number.

I have had a few photos in the queue over the last few weeks and I did notice that, initially, the daily number of photos submitted dropped by several hundred daily after the new limits were imposed. However the submitted daily queue is slowly increasing again so perhaps photographers are gaining confidence in their own self-screening.

Either way, it is a pleasure to have photos being turned round in five days or less. Thanks screener guys 'n gals  Smile

The lower the queue the more people can upload daily, it's a natural consequence.

The Q is down by 700 odd photogs.
This is maybe due to the fact that they are now restricted or haven't used their slots to replace what they had in the Q.

Just wanted to thank all screeners, particularly the ones who have been bothered by my many uploads (and rejections) during the past months!  bigthumbsup

It should be noted that not only the queue is down, but also the number of photographers is down from 2K+ to 1.5K-, about 25% less. Why? I guess, probably many photog with the smallest upload limit just stopped uploading (I've been there until very recently  blush  ).

And one more wish: If you screeners now have the queue down, just spend a little more time on some borderline rejections with a nice personal comment on how to improve the rejected image - many photog would definitely appreciate that!  cloudnine

I think a lot of photographers are on vacation (such as me) and thus cannot upload. I think that at the end of august the flood will start again.

Errr... isn't it simply that a shorter queue will trend towards less photographers in the queue? If you extrapolate to a zero-image queue then that would have zero photographers, and a one-image queue would have only one photographer.
Simply a shorter queue = (generally) fewer photographers in the queue at any one time.

Q is going down but a lot are suffering as a result.
I have gone from a very high acceptance ratio to a low one all in a matter of days.
And now i have lost a further 5 slots due to my acceptance going down .
Is this the way the Q is to be kept down ?
I think not and the site would be worse off if people stopped uploading in fear of this avalanche of rejections continues.
Cheers

The queue is back below 6,000 again.....

I'm back screening again after my internet mishap. Great work from my fellow screeners.

Thanks also to all the photographers that took my monetary payment not to upload. It's saved us lots of time  Yeah sure but my bank balance has been destroyed.

I wonderd this too. I'm admire the work going into getting the Q to this state don't get me wrong, but it seems as soon as my shots hit screeners they are being booted in a matter of hours sometimes less. Majority are "Quality" which doesn't help a great deal. In the rush to get the Q down I hope our shots are not getting a quick glance.

Ok now have a go at me for whinging...

Nope, this is not the case. Nothing has changed in our screening process and definately not a case of 'Screen quickly and dump quickly'

Certainly not. The shots are getting the same look, although I'll admit to keeping my personal messages concise. I would normally have a good old chat in the personal messages.

By the way, sorry to that photographer that received an email to an ex-girlfriend instead of a the intended personal message.... I swear, it was just an accidental cut and paste.

My ex just called and asked, what the heck does "soft nose" and "green cast" mean?

I try to use personal when I think the rejection reason might be too broad for the situation. Always great to point to something in particular for each photographer.
