Appeals - Ever Successful?

Tue Aug 08, 2006 12:14 pm

I know this sounds bitter, but I'm curious: how many appeals are actually successful?

I've appealed one and was successful in getting the rejection overturned.

I have to say some of my appeals are successful for some cases.  Smile

Very well then. Maybe my appeals are just not any good.

There are some on most days and yes I have made the wrong decision on the odd occasion. That is what the appeal function is for, we are only human after all. On the other hand I too have had some successful appeals so it works well for everybody.

I've had quite a few successful appeals. You can't just appeal any decision because you're annoyed at the rejection. In most cases you'll need to do a good job of explaining why the rejection should be overturned. I'm not a screener, but I can tell you that appealing without a worthwhile comment will get you nowhere.

I have been successful in some appeals. My first photo on Anet was accepted on appeal. Quick question: Once I had an appeal accepted "with warnings" and I have no idea what that means. Thoughts?

I've appealed four, of which three were successful.

You're not asking me, are you? I've never had a successful appeal. It seems they always find a reason to uphold a rejection.

No, not specifically asking anyone, just a general question I have always wondered after getting that appeal accepted.

Isn't there a message attached? I read in this forum that in the old days, pictures were sometimes accepted (through the normal screening process) 'with warnings', for example 'It's a little dark'.

When I started uploading, the confirmation mail (after the normal screening process) still used to say that photos had been accepted 'without warnings'.

I've had one picture (my most popular one) accepted by Johan with such a warning, for bad quality.

Thanks Peter. The shot I appealed and had accepted with warnings was originally a level rejection. I guess it was accepted upon appeal because it was only "a little" unlevel.  Big grin Either way, thanks for clearing that up.

I've had a handful of successful appeals where a "category" rejection was challenged. On issues such as as "quality" or "motive" I've had none. I really don't appeal these types of rejections anymore, I'd rather find another shot in the series of the a/c in question and try a fresh upload.

Matt...never experienced this...but on occasion the acceptance e-mail on a given photo will have the "without warnings" language; and sometimes not...kinda' strange.

When appealing we have two sets of 'rejection boxes'. Red ones for rejections, green ones for acceptance with warnings.

I think on average about 1 in 15-20 appeals gets accepted.
