Dubai (DXB) Terminal Building Photography

Sun Aug 13, 2006 4:59 am

Hi all,

I am looking for some information regarding DXB photography. Where are the best locations for some pictures inside the terminal building before departure? I am aware of the current security situation and will try to keep a low profile (leaving most of the gear at home). Some help would be much appreciated!

Thank you,

I would suggest the upper floor, close to the escalators taking you down to the duty free shops; from there, you would be able to get a shot including both the terminal structure and the duty free area (don't forget to include the palm tree in your shot!).

Otherwise, both the EK Business and First-class lounges are worth a shot if you can access them.

Good luck and have a nice trip,

Regards

Actually I meant aircraft pictures, not terminal pictures.  Embarrassment

Apologies for the confusion and thanks for your input.

Quoting EDDL (Reply 2):

You have to be airside to get any views. There is a restaurant area above the check-in desks that offers some views of the "back" of the terminal, but I have been stopped from even using binoculars there.

Just about the only place in the terminal itself is from the food-hall seating area, about mid-way along the terminal. You are some distance from the curved glass though and probably lots of reflections. There are also some "quiet areas" near each end of the terminal that offer reasonable views.

These places tend to be busy and photography will very likely be frowned upon. I think it's unlikely you'd be arrested or anything that dramatic, but I'd be surprised if you weren't asked to stop. Be careful.

I second the other opinions, just keep a low profile. Another halfway decent spot are temporary gates (gate 40+), as these protrude towards the taxiway.

There are very very few spots for good shots from within the terminal building... I have flown from there many many times, and if I did get lucky at my gate, then the windows were beyond filthy (the airport is a giant construction zone, so they can't clean the windows 24/7) or had some condensation which is common at this humid time of year, and that makes the dirt on the windows worse...

Have a look around for a shot spot, but keep it subtle and don't upset the cops. They aren't too forgiving.
