Check Out This Rejection HA

Thu Sep 07, 2006 7:06 am

I just had this one rejected for contrast and soft.

I tell you, I am getting pretty frustrated myself as it is now. I have gone from 80% acceptance to 60% over the last 10 days or so.

So how do you suggest a rotation to make it level? Ill ask the expert right now. I think you know the field well.

Ill be nice & disregard your other remark about the photo.

Chad,

Rotate the picture clockwise. And you really shouldn't disregard the other comment.

I agree with the need for a bit of CW rotation and some sharpening, but I enjoy the contrast and think it's a great shot!

Thanks Prat,

I will rotate the photo a bit but the contrast is just fine. Wont be changing it. Will keep it for the personal collection.

What about this? Only sharpening, levels, contrast and colors as I didn't have the original...

I want to publicly apologize to Andy for coming off so hard. As a screener you offered an opinion, be it right or wrong, I should have been more professional than that.

Thanks for the level advice John.

I definitely like the first edit better but I adjusted the levels on this edit. Is this acceptable? I see some heat haze but it looks to be pretty minimal.

Exactly right - Chad you and I, plus many others know that you produce awesome shots. If anet choose to rejeted them (plus many others) just laugh, because lets face it, look at what they are missing out on.

Thanks all for the support in here and offline and in emails (wow, I got emails because of this!) but it might be to late as Im getting worn out. Right now if you asked me to upload a few other shots I took that day, I cant say that I am motivated.

Can I get some opinions on this shot thats already in the queue please? Angle is probably an issue, but, I was leveling the poles in the background. If thats it, its an easy fix. What about the "contrast, sharpness, etc" in this shot?

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/big/ready/FedExn394feLAX31AUG06-5.jpg

On another possibly related note as it has to do with rejections...

It seems that the forum is becoming far less active over the last week or so. Could it be people are "shell shocked" with the rejections as of late? I know I cant be the only one getting these rejections. I have also noticed far less people are viewing the pics over the same period. It might just be me, but, I find it interesting they are both occurring simultaneously.

Yes I think it might be an issue. You should have used the buildings verticals as reference. Maybe my version is now leaning a little bit to much to the right but yours is leaning to the left I think.

I hope this helps.

About the contrast, softness etc. I have no idea anymore.

Mybe its related to a certain other site which must remain nameless here getting rid of the popup-ads?

Agree. Contrast I like, as it seems natural (unlike the Virgin, I am sorry to say), but I am also one of those guys who have no idea about what's right and what's not, so my opinion is worth nothing  Wink

Chad, for me the light in the virgin shot is not good enough yet for that type of shot. The light on the DC10 shot is already much better and hence it doesn't suffer from the contrast issues.

Just kind of play with it. These are the toughest to rotate beecause you have to use the horizon line and kind of "eyeball" it, as the jetwash has blurred all of the other verticals in the images.

The red line two posts ago looks to be about level.

I would use the windsock pole as a primary reference. It is tall enough to get a good read on the level.
