What Is Noa_?

Wed Sep 13, 2006 4:42 am

Ummmmmmm, I have a feeling that I may regret posting this but....

......what does NOA_ mean please ?  old

One thing I hate on the internet is the use of "mobilephonetextspeak". What's wrong with good old English ?  bomb

Does NOA still show up in the rejection messages? Officially it doesn't exist anymore. it meant something like No Airliners.net Material, or something similar...

Hello.

Tim knows more than me, but I recall it previously being described as 'Not On Airliners'. I must say I agree with you Brian about what you refer to as "mobilephonetextspeak". I too like real words - too many, a few may say  biggrin . But that's what they were invented for!

I am also wondering this. The recent rejections do not show NOA any longer. But it seems people are still widely using this term.  Smile

Same with "Bad". That was taken out a while back too, but people still use it!

I liked it when you just used "bad"

Clear, concise and easy.

Actually, whilst we're on the subject - can someone please provide a list of all the A.net 'rejection' acronyms and what they mean specifically?

Similarly, I assume 'Motiv' means 'Motive' ?

Noa collected a lot of Hanimals together and embarked on a nautical adventure with them.

I could make an Irish joke here....but I won't.  fight

The reason for asking the question was because I see the acronym used here many times but coud not find it in the official "Reasons for rejection" list.

Thanks for the answers

So nobody seems to know exactly what NOA means? True, it doesn't seem to appear on rejections any more, but it still appears on the appeal screen, for instance 'qualityNOA' or 'softNOA'...

Wasn't it: NO Appeal ?
After the rejection no chances to appel the photo ?

But of course we do. This funny little acronym has been bugging people for a long time. See reply 14 in this thread of more than a year ago.

Hope this helped to solve the mystery. For now...

Thanks, Tameteora, for soving the "mistery".

Does it basically mean that the photo in question will NEVER be accepted, so there is no point in trying to rework the file? Or, does it only apply to the particular parameter it has been attached to, like, for instance, if it is 'NOAsoft', you still can sharpen it to have it accepted?

No. Just read the next two posts in that thread.

2 Ptrjong:

It is just that I had a few rejected photos that I reworked, reuploaded and had accepted in the end. The ones that I could never get through were also the only ones that had that NOA prefix.

Chukcha,

The NOA prefix was in all rejection messages, but only for a limited period. Before that it was BAD and now it's nothing.

Thanks, Peter. I've been on A.net for only a few months, still trying to make sense out of some things...
