Question About Motiv.

Wed Sep 13, 2006 11:51 am

Are these motiv?

I'm new to A.net photography and just recently got a good camera. I've been doing aviation photography for years, but A.net has got me confused about what's ok. I have seen some similar to them. I am just wondering if they are motiv? and if not, are these particular ones acceptable for A.net at all?

They are 1024 wide, and 4x3 ratio. Photobucket is just goes to 800x600.

One basic rule is try not to cut off things like stabs and noses. Surf the Db here and you will get a good idea of what is a good motiv.

I agree with Nik and Shannon, the 2nd one looks like it could make it, the others have too many things cut off.

Don't be, ok is what you like. A different story is what A.net standard is...

Qualitywise they are ok.

But, the cropping will be resulting in a badmotiv rejection for all of them. I suppose you had a look at what is uploaded here. So, do that again and have a look at Southwest pictures  Wink

These shots got me interested in that one particular angle.

As as you may appreciate, in all shots you have the full nose section - wing - winglet - engine combination, with no parts of it cut off  eyepopping  , whereas in your shots there is always at least one of these parts missing/cut off.

If you want to crop things out - do it decisively. Not just cutting little bits out by accident.

In this shot, I cropped out part of the vertical fin, but not just the tip.

I also was careful not to cut the engines.
