BA 747 Photo - Any Potential?

Thu Sep 21, 2006 10:10 am

Now, I'm sure the quality of this picture isn' yet up to A.net standards, but I will be obtaining Photoshop shortly, and I'd like to ask your opinion on this shot of a BA747 at SYD last weekend. I think it has the potential to make the A.net database, however I'd like some opinions on what the shot requires before I upload it (again!!).

Looks dark, grainy, and soft, possibly due to heat haze. Doubt it's salvageable. Appears to be a little unlevel as well.

The quality just isn't there. Everything that Harry mentions plus there's a fair amount of compression.

It's dark, grainy, not centered, and lacks motive. Some of those Photoshop can't help.

So the opinion is "don't even bother" even with Photoshop?! I literally just resized and posted, no editing do far whatsoever, you really think it's not uploadable?

With the amount of under-exposure and colour cast, I'd say no.

Might need to have a play around with exposure compensation on the camera, looking at that shot.

Much too soft to be worth it. Even if sharpened in Photoshop, it will need so much unsharp mask that it will have a lot of jaggies. Also, colour cast is substandard, you would have better luck on a less hazy day and possiblely earlier/later in the day as well.
