Sunrise/Night Shots

I going to be doing some spotting at a few airports in December when I go on vacation to Miami  Smile

I will be in Miami (MIA) on the 26th of December, I see that most of the heavy arrivals arrive between 5AM and 8AM. Sunrise is at roughly 7AM, but twilight will begin before. If it gets light at 7AM, is it worth spotting at around 5:30AM-6:30AM?

What sort of results can I get with a twiilight background, is it worth trying, or will they just turn out bad?

Can you give me some night/sunrise photography tips that will help me?

I have a Cannon 300D (Digital Rebel) camera, but I'm only a poor amateur at taking aircraft photo's as you can see below:

As I said above, I have a Cannon 300D, can you reccomend changing certain settings to create better results during night/sunrise aswell as daylight/sunset photos?

Also on a side note, I want to do a TR on one of my night flights, what settings can you reccomend if I want to take photo's outside from the cabin? Usualy my photos come out blurred!

I would be grateful for any feedback, thanks in advance...

There are all sorts of little tricks you can pull, but the only real way to grasp it is to actually understand how things are working within the camera. Try reading the manual in full - I know us blokes are adverse to this sort of time-consuming activity but it may really assist you in your quest.

If you still have questions after reading the manual (or maybe you've read it already?) don't hesitate to reply.

I don't have experience shooting planes during twilight, but lots of experience shooting other subjects. My best advice would be to go out for the next month or two before you go, and practice shooting twilight shots. Don't go out in December without knowing what you're doing yet. Any setting I say know won't be as valuable as you going out with your camera and figuring out what's best for you.
