Do I understand it right that it is allowed to make pictures of planes as long as there are no airport buildings on it? There are a few final approach spots on the perimeter that would still be allowed if this where the case.

By saying "any object", does that not imply that taking photo's of aircraft is prohibited too (until they leave the "security restricted area" that is).

'You cannot photograph any object, facility or building without permission.'
That obviously includes aircraft.

However, this is valid only if it's for private purposes.
So it's OK to make photos for espianage purposes biggrin

And commercial??

But by saying "in the security restriceted area," that should mean that is is legal to take photos of planes on final before they cross the airport fence?

Yes that is it saying, but I don't want to mess with a French Cop on this. On the other hand when I stand in the approach path and photograph I'm not able to see the signs at the fence Big grin

Which airport was it taken?

Now that leaves so much room for poor-taste jokes about the history of French-German relations....  Wink

However, I do see what you're saying, and I don't like messing with cops either. Especially the ones in Nassau, stoking their machine guns while giving you a lecture like some sick psychopath.

But the last bit makes me wonder: Do the respective authorities have a "spotters office" where you could register and obtain the necessary permission? While I am all for civic liberties, I do understand security concerns, and if they can implement some system that enables enthusiasts to enjoy their hobby AND make sure that spotting is not going to be abused by the wrong folks, that may be the way...

Don't think so it's something like the "You can do it if I allow the thing I would never allow to you!"

Did the photographer of that photograph have written permission signed in triplicate while in the presence of 2 independent adjudicator's to witness the aforementioned signing of the aforementioned document to take the aforementioned photograph!

If I'm not mistaken, there was a thread here recently in which it was said that the required permission was actually easy to obtain.

I read and understand this sign in a totally different way.

Where it says..."It is forbidden to take photos or to film for private purposes from the public area any object, facility or building in the security restricted area.........."

I read this to mean that while YOU are in the "CDG PUBLIC AREAS" you cannot photograph as outlined. To me this means the public areas enclosed within the CDG property. Such as the terminals, parking lots, etc.

I don't take this to mean that if you are outside the airport on other public lands that you cannot aim your camera inside the fence.

Would take a damn lawyer to argue this one in court. But who wants to be the trial case?

Sounds far-fetched to me. 'Zone public' probably does mean public lands.

Anyway, what matters is not what it says on the sign but what it says in the full text of Arrete prefectoral 06-3206. You're supposed to know the law.

It means if you point a Camera at any thing at the Airport you can get a Hefty Euro fine.

But if you get permission which i hear is fairly easy and get the Bit of Paper needed then the Police and Airport officials are out of luck!

Lol - presumably this is the case. Rather you explaining it to the French Police than me though

German Police seem fine, but France......

Ineffective, unworkable and I guess quite costly to the French taxpayer. I just don't know who thinks them up.

Edit: typo.
