Please Help Me To Level This Pic

Fri Nov 03, 2006 9:01 pm

Hello,

I've just got a rejection about this pic :

http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...20061102_SINSHEIM-229edita.net.JPG

Raison : Unleveled with personal message from the screener : "needs CW rotation"

I have check the pic again, but for me, the pic is leveled,

Look at this close-up on the post who's carrying the front gear :

What do you think ?

Appeal or not?

Thx

It does indeed look like it needs some CW rotation (roughly about 0.5).

No, the poles and staircase clearly do lean to the left in my opinion.

If you zoom in too much, anything becomes straight.

I'd draw a line from the small light spot between the nosewheel and the pole above, and the gap between the two poles below. Then you have a long vertical that should be pretty reliable.

Manu,
I would be more radical with the rotation I am thinking more like 1+ CW
The trap you appear to have fallen into is you have leveled on the lower section of the nosegear support which by looking at other pics in the DB is clearly not vertical.
Something else to consider is motiv, or how the next screener will consider the motiv.. There are many pics of this aircraft in the DB (283 & 60 or so at Sinsheim) so common is also likely, and this to me is a rather featureless silhouette with a fairly unremarkable sky.
Just my  twocents  worth, but then I am not a huge fan of planes on poles, If they can't be flying I like them where I can see detail or touch!!

Cheers

I'd use the verticals of the staircase to level this shot. This is rotated 1.5 degrees clockwise:
Big version: Width: 1121 Height: 760 File size: 149kb

I think it looks more level now.

I think you should start over with the original uncropped photo. Use the two rear poles (next to stairs) and the vertical pole between them as your reference points for levelling. Use the grid on PS to guide you. You are attempting to level a tightly cropped photo which may expose you to motiv issues.  crossfingers

Well, not directly. I think this shot is getting motive as I think shilouette shots doesnt do good on static a/cs, which are sitting on poles.Additional that wing from another A/c on the left is distracting ... , anyway , just my opinion.
