Guess What? Motive!

Wed Nov 08, 2006 5:47 am

Hey guys (and girls),

http://www.airliners.net/procphotos/...61107_PH-XRW73GHV23okt06AMS_JR.jpg

Got this shot rejected for motive (after a soft rejection). I like the shot and don't agree with the rejection, but I'm a little biased Wink. What do you think? Appeal or keep it in the personal files?

Keep this one for your personal files. Rear of the aircraft is generally not too interesting, there is too much clutter, and the aircraft in the background is very distracting. This is not to mention that the top of the horizontal stabilizer and the end of the right-hand vertical stabilizer have been cropped off.

Just my thoughts........

Jurgen, I love the atmosphere and have no problem with the rear view, but the Transavia aircraft doesn't fill the frame enough I think. One's eyes are drawn to the tarmac in front of it.

Engineergreg, what to do if rear of aircraft is interesting for me and I enjoy other planes at the picture? I've no right to see it, I'm a bad guy with no fancy?

I think good background is the very important for the picture - it make it alive, not tasteless and boring. It is just my feeling as well.  Wink

Jurgen, I absolutely like your photo as it is a real airport action shot that wonderfully shows what is going on during a maneuver as simple as a pushback. And though it won't help you with your issue of getting it accepted here I can tell you that it already found its way into my personal collection.  Wink

Another A.net loss...  Sad

Cheers,

Rear of the aircraft is fine, and nothing cluttering the view of the aircraft. I think the cutting off of the right elevator is what caused this. Maybe a tighter crop around the aircraft itself and centreing it a bit better should help.

Thanks for the comment guys. I will try a tighter crop tomorrow, but I personally didn't like it.

Is that actually legal?  Wink. Thanks for the comment!

What do you think?

I don't like that angle. I wouldn't have taken it in the first place.

Jungen, I agree with you; probably nicer "as is". I like it anyway.

Maybe try one from scratch next time, for a.net?

Hi Jurgen,

A.net aside (if that's possible), I love the shot and certainly shows your high night time photography skills. The angle is no problem for me (but I know a lot of people who don't like to see behinds, aircraft ones I mean  Wink ), and I really like the overall "busy airport" atmosphere, particularly because of the background.

Now, regarding A.net standard, I think the motive rejection comes from the distracting background, something which you cannot really change, and thus I would have to say: keep it for your (and our) personal collection.

Thanks a lot for your comments (even via e-mail),

I made a cropped version but I don't like it as much. Still thinking about appealing the rejection.

Curious what you think of the new edit:

Personally I liked the original, but it's still worth a shot! Good luck!  Smile

Jurgen,

I like these kind of shots. Lot's of atmosphere in it. Unfortunately a clipped tail and not centered are probably one of the reason for the rejection. Nonetheless a neat shot!

Like Tom already mentioned, go out there start from scratch and bring home an a.net type shot.

Hello!

I got a motive rejection for this photo, a long time ago. I want to upload it once again, but I don´t know, if it is good enough?

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 683 File size: 341kb

Here is the original photo:

Still a nice shot but I like the first edit better as it has more breathing space; on the 2nd one the aircraft looks like it had been put into too small a box.  boxedin
I'll keep the 1st one in my personal collection if you don't mind.  Wink

Agreed, that is why I won't upload the 2nd edit.

Well......  Wink

But rejections keep rolling in. Got this one rejected for quality. Is it the grain? Is it something I don't see?

Hi Jurgen,

Well, this one I can see, look at the sky/sea to the left and the wing, there is some grain visible. Still a shame about the night shot, though  cry

I'll re-edit the wingview, that's not much of a problem I guess. I do however keep trouble with the motiv. I guess the problem is that I cropped the engine of the transavia.
