Help With These Two Rejections

Fri Nov 17, 2006 5:11 am

I am new to aviation photography and I am trying to get my first photo accepted after five rejections.

Reject reasons are as follows:

Photo 1 : Reject reason: quality soft

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20061109_water_bomber03.jpg

Photo 2: Reject reason: quality blurry personal (I cannot make heads or tails what personal means)

I used Photoshop CS2 to edit these photos.

I need a helping hand with these photos.

there is a personal message from the screener in your rejection e-mail (or should be)

Joe,

I love your first photo. The colours are strong with a lovely blue sky. The tail of the aircraft is a little soft and I fear the original may have been slightly bury as well so you've had to sharpen it heavily?

The second photo is very soft / blurry. Not much you can do with that.

Yes I found the personal message from the screener. Thanks.

I still believe these photos deserve better.

I submitted these photos one in the 1600 resolution and the other in the 1300 resoultion. From the previous threads I have read I am aware these resolutions expose more the defects - however I did this to avoid the jaggies I was getting during resizing to 1024.

In fact these have no resizing but cropping and sharpening only.

I am new to photoshop CS2. I edited the photos and the above are the results I got.

Joe the first is soft in parts, such as the tail and the wing tip of the right wing. Its a touch backlit, or at least the sun is shining towards the face of the aircraft, but I don't see that as a major problem here.

Second image is out of focus

First the first photo - I'd recommend you try having your image at 1024x if your a newbie.

The second photo seems to be out of focus. You can't really do much with a photo once it's unfocused.
