Thinking About A Sigma 50-150 F2.8

Sun Nov 19, 2006 1:51 am

I'm thinking about getting the Sigma APO 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC HSM.

I currently have the Canon 100-400L USM but want something a bit smaller. Another L glass is pretty much out of the frame due to their prices.

Does anyone own it that can recommend it?

Ian,

A friend of mine has the 120-300 Sigma 2.8 and its pin sharp off his 1Ds MkII. Very fast and would give the Canon L a run for its money. Though recently his aperture packed in and has been left with f2.8 only strangely....

He did buy it second hand but he has been very pleased with it apart from that one issue.

I know its not the same lens but I hope kinda helps....

Yep cheers Colin. The thing that appeals really is the fact that it's only 3" in diameter and 5.2" long.

It does state in the blurb however, vignetting will occur if the lens is used with Dslr's with image sensors larger than APS-C size but it's £500 so...
