Photography Guide: Lasham Request

Sat Nov 25, 2006 2:32 am

I’ve been searching around and unfortunately could not find a source of information that would give me any such guides or tips to photography at Lasham. As a result of this, I’m wondering if any of you here at Airliners.net would be ever so kind enough to answer a few questions of mine.

1) How easy is it to get in some photography at Lasham, any recommended locations?
2) How is the security at Lasham, will I get moved on/terrorist report filled in?
3) Parking; is it easy?
4) When is it best to go in terms of traffic? I’m presuming it can be pretty crummy at times!
5) Tying in with the above; is there anywhere I can find out advanced warnings of ‘due’ aircraft?

I have made a few visits to Lasham but in the last couple of years a security barrier has been put in place. Unless you are in the area, or something fantastic is there I wouldn't bother to be honest.

I think AJ Best works there so thats why he is able to post the shots he does.

You are unlikely to get any hassle from security as the airliners tend to ferry in and out but as others have said, contact AJ Best for the best info.

Regards,

Stuart

Thought some of you may say that, but had thought others may be able to help, or any tips would be posted here for public knowledge, but I will however contact Tony.

Thanks Guys,
Bmi

Hi Bmi

1. Not easy as most views look south into the sun.

2. Gone are the days when you could drive into the site on the taxiway/road. Security gates are now used.

3. Parking is ok but dont block the gates.

4. I know people who live in Hants and have never seen a Boeing come or go!
The best time of year is now till the spring with the summer very slow. Most weeks now they get 3 (yes 3) movements but I have known all 3 in one day!

5. Advanced warning is very tricky and inbound moves are always late.

Always let me know if your going past Lasham as I will help out, but it will have to be on a sunny day!!

Thanks for that Tony! If I was up that way I'd be with some other A.netters and would most likely be on my way to another UK Airport.

Don't forget the museum at Lasham - some interesting (if sorry looking) aircraft there. I think it is open on weekends only though.
