j,

Another amazing capture from Chad! Shouldn't that guy be doing something else other than taking a picture?  Silly

What's even more impressive is the pilot was probably holding the guys Coke and chips for him!

Great one Chad.

What is the jet exaust pipe on the foward right side? Seems like a strange place for an APU.

I too like these types of military shots. I know that this topic was raised before by someone else in another thread but don't remember which one. Correct me if I am wrong, but if they show a good portion on the aircraft, then they are acceptable, other than that they are unacceptable.

Well the landing area is about 500 or so feet long and about 150 feet wide. But they hardly ever need much more then 300.  Wink If so they just go around and try again. Or if they do that repeatedly, the reassign them to the Air Force.  Smile

Dont be talking bad about the USAFduck

I have seen some USN pilots make some pretty hard landings on 10,000 ft runways that dont move. They must have thought that it was going up and down 30 ft.  scratchchin

That's what you'd call a carrier landing and that's what those guys are supposed to do. It only gets bad when they do it with some of these new composite planes!  Wink

I know that...I have seen many in my ATC days. The Prowlers that come into Grand Junction love to make them. They dont just make the hard landing, they also execute the power up.

Actually it's not, the P-3 Orion has it's APU in the same place.
