The Story Of My Life.... Bad Contrast

Sun Dec 03, 2006 12:03 am

Hi all, recently I have had a spate of bad contrast rejections, and was wondering if anyone could help, as the levels tool seems to be rebelling!

Were they only rejected for contrast!?
Cause that is really the smallest issue with these 2 pictures!
The first one looks as if it had been shot through some window, it's overexposed, unlevel and the overall quality is lacking.
The 2nd one is somewhat better but it's unlevel and would probably fall under NOA_motive due to the guy in front of the plane. Also I don't think it would make it due to overall quality issues.
What camera were you shooting with?

A Canon Powershot A510 on all. Only a piddly 3.2 megapix!

Looks like exposure too. Just tweak with the levels or curves. But if you'd want to get them in here more work on them is required.

Sorry to say, but that shows quite clearly.
Next time get as close to the aircraft as possible so you can make full use of the 3.2MP and you won't get objects in the viewfinder that will distract your camera from the main object thus helping it to get the right exposure.
The 2 mentionned shots are probably lost for A.net no matter how much work you put into them.  Sad

These show the effect of an addition of +10 contrast (right side of each pic) but, as others have said, there is also an overexposure/brightness problem. On the second pic the tailfin especially is burnt out.

Thanks for the tips guys, and just to go completely off topic, BrianW999, would you happen to be the user with the same username over at "the other site", and the paramedic photographer I once saw at LHR?

"Yes" to the first bit and "Probably" to the second. Would have been July 1st or 25th at LHR. If I was in the private service blue uniform at the 09L approach it was July 1st.
