Consistency?

Tue Dec 05, 2006 9:50 am

This is an amazing photo.. I absolutely love it and I can't wait for friday.. I'm going down to watch possibly the last night launch of the shuttle.. ever.

But, I've had a lot of rejections lately for being unlevel... and I have to ask, how come this gets in when mine are BARELY unlevel and get rejected. This one needs like .5-1degre CW

Obviously a mistake. Great shot all the same, just needs rotation.

Reminds me of some of the St. Maarten shots from about 18 months ago where the sea had quite a slope.

Tim.

Don't miss it! I'm pretty sure it's Thursday night, the 7th, not Friday...if the weather holds up.

You're right about the angle, but then again you don't get a lot of Shuttle take-offs, do you ?

Quite right. I noticed it wasn't level. Not from an 'oh no, this wont do for anet' kind of way, purely from my own perspective. I also see a little compression in the image.....

But I'll overlook that for this one, its a stunning image and would hang nicely on my computer room wall beside me  Wink

Correct, but leveling is no problem which can be corrected like e.g. blurry.

Great pic.

But how hard is it to level it in photoshop and re-upload it? While its a very nice photo, the fact that its is unlevel hurts the integrity of the screening process on this site.

I'd love to hear from one of the Crew members of the site, inparticular a photo screener.

Thanks,
Adam

Clearly nothing. Don't hold out for a result either...

Hi all,

just saw this thread. I agree the angle looks off, but will it look better if the ground is leveled and the shuttle is leaning to the right? so far it´s going straight up, which looks about right to me.

Yes! Who in their right mind would build a water tower that leans at that angle?

Yes. Because thats the rules  Wink

The shuttle doesn't go up like an arrow, it goes to the side as it climbs. You can see on video footage from a side on shot that it moves to the right almost as soon as it lifts.

You mean as in being an accurate representation of what was seen? As far as I'm aware, the shuttle doesn't go "straight up", so making the image level will in fact give us the correct, true image.

It's a nice shot, but there's absolutely no reason why it couldn't and shouldn't be level.

ok....

I guess, i shouldn´t have said the angle "looks" off, but "is" off.

The Photographer probably aligned the photo on the shuttle, to make it go straight up.

So maybe someone here is willing to email him and ask him to upload it again, as i think that he probably isn´t even aware of this issue.

That should be the screeners job since it was accepted this way, right? Personally, I would be more willing to listen to a screener tell me it should be fixed.

Denis if the photographer doesn't want or isn't able to process this magnificent image correctly here is an edited version:
http://www.honders.net/tmp/PhotoID1148911.jpg

It's leveled as well as a little levels, contrast and saturation correction.

Hi all

As the screener for the re-upload queue I have already mailed the photographer some days ago.

Regards
