Does This Picture Stand A Chance?

Fri Dec 15, 2006 8:49 am

This picture is the result of an unusually cold and wet morning spent at the airport during a strange and heavy rainstorm back in October. I know that it is not a high quality image (grain, dark, contrast...you name it!), but I think the motive is quite interesting. When taking the picture it had been heavily raining all morning, so the runway was flooded with water. You can clearly see the rain on the tail fin and in the engine intakes (it's not grain!).

So, is the quality bad enough to kill this one and leave it for my personal collection, or is the motive good enough to offset the quality? I would highly appreciate also some screeners input  wave  !

Rain or grain...  duck

It is a nice picture with action! But... Like you've already said, a rainy day means dark image and many effects that reduces the quality. I don't think it will be accepted since rain isn't that special after all, it doesn't compensate for the quality issues.

Its a borderline one. A rework, getting rid of the jaggies, plus some grain removal may do the trick, but I wouldn't pin any hopes on it.

I could be wrong though!

You did very well in the circumstances there Andres, but I think the amount of rain around the lower fuselage makes it unacceptable. You can see the extent of it against the black backdrop of the engine intakes.

Regards,

Tim.
Obviously missing something....

Would anybody like to try their editing skills on this shot?
And is there any screener willing to nail the coffin on this one with one more final comment?
