Need Advice- Should I Upload Pictures?

Sun Dec 31, 2006 11:46 am

I would like to know if I should try uploading some of the pictures I took last summer:

If so, I would need help with the registration.

edit: I forgot to add- if anyone wants to see the originals, I will be glad to send them via email.

I didn't have time to pause the video but most don't look promising. The Nor 737s, Tu-154 and the Icelandic cargo maybe can have a shot but you would have to post the raw captures here to see if the quallity is there.

It's impossible to judge photo's from a youtube video.

What equipment are you using?

Why not just upload one or two into your post instead?

Hard to say from a video bit I doubt if any of those shots would be accepted. At the very least, most would need a tighter crop.

Nice music though ...

Would that be because of the camera?

I suggest you have a look at some of the shots that have been accepted here, to get an idea of the level of quality that is required.

Quoting GAIsweetGAI (Reply 5):

Not necessarily. It is perfectly possible to get acceptances of shots of parked or taxiing aircraft, taken in good light, with a camera such as yours. There are many such shots in the database, including recent shots.

Just to give you an idea how tough these guys are, ...the air2air photo below
was rejected for being too soft. And despite the fact it is of a very rare aircraft that they have no other air2air photos on the database of. Also it was taken by a twelve year old boy(completely unaided) and it has actually been published in an aviation magazine in New Zealand called "Classic Wings" ...Neither has it been cropped.

My son took this great air to air photo of ZK-AYR a very rare DH90 Dragonfly in January 2005 when he was still only 12years old.

That DH Dragonfly shot is lovely but, at 640 pixels wide, it is too small to be accepted here.

Is that the original size?

If not, some careful sharpening and cropping could turn it into a top-of-the-day shot.

It's from 35mm Fuji Velvia slide film. We have an 18 x 12inch enlargement of it on the wall in my sons bedroom and it looks sharp enough when viewed from three to four feet away.

I would agree with thats shot being rejected for softness and cropping needs adjustment though it is a nice shot.
