How Is RDU's Obersvation Area?

Sun Jan 14, 2007 9:03 am

I'm going to RDU next weekend, for a wedding. But if I have time, I'd love to do a bit of shooting at the airport. Anyone have any previous experience with the observation area? Is it good for spotting?

Yes, very good for spotting and photography in the afternoon. You will be facing NW. The observation area is a 2-story covered deal with ATC audio on the speakers. Nice and clean. Restrooms on the ground level. However, this time of year it might be a little chilly outside so it might not be so comfortable.

here is a link to an online satellite view map:

Hope this helps.

Thanks. Good to hear. I noticed the terminals are split on the map, and there are two runways. What are the odds of getting shots of aircraft from the far side? (If any of that makes sense).

Also, does anyone have any good locations from Charlotte?
