First two are soft Ian. The United one looks over-sharpened around the left engine and also has contrast issues.

JALs look soft, AA the blue/white/red lines show a bit of jaggies, UA contrast.

JAL stil has some soft areas around the flaps I think.

UA looks very good now.

Hi Ian,

The UAL looks awesome to me! I love this type of composition, with light like that!

May I ask where these shots were taken from? I guess these are rwy 27L departures? I would know for a future trip to LHR... Thanks!

Cheers,

Quoting Manc (Reply 3):
Cheers guys,

another go at the JAL then

http://www.iesphotography.co.uk/LHR/JA8909_140107_LHRc.jpg

and the UAL

http://www.iesphotography.co.uk/LHR/...a.jpg

Both oversharpened.
The JAL pics in the first post are better (both not overexposed, the whites still have texture) but still jaggy in places.
For all shots: reduce the saturation to more 'real' levels. They all have a neon-like look.

I see this more and more in screening, the cranking of the saturation. Be careful with that. Besides looking unnatural, it creates nasty side-effects deteriorating the overall quality (losing detail, grain, 'running' colours, etc.).

OK I'm confused, soft, oversharpened.

I have to go with screeners views on these, so I've applied less sharpening and reduced the saturation.

Spot was old Esso garage end of 27L.

Cheers for the help, hope these lot are more like it.

Yes, the JAL is better now. I'm not sure about the UA, it still seems to have jaggy problems (the engine, ETOPS sign & titles). Can you try to erase those jaggies using the layer method?

E

Yeah I use the layer method for the jaggies, I'll have a go later tonight when I am at home as just arrived at work. Cheers for the JAL advice I'll get it in the queue.

I'm taking the AA is a no go.
