Can This Motive Reject Be Saved?

Tue Jan 16, 2007 7:50 am

Hey all,

I had the following shot rejected tonight:

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...20070115_G-MOND_INN_06-01-07kj.jpg

I really like it, and am kinda disappointed it didn't get in.
Can it be saved in any way? I have some room left for a different crop if needed.

Also, what I'm about to say is probably not the wisest thing to do, but I'm saying it anyways.
Why can "boring" engine closeups from the side be accepted, while a shot like this can't? There are plenty of examples in the DB of this. I'm not out to diss anyone, but I'm just wondering about this...

Thanks,

-Kas

Damn good shot.

Their loss, again.

Nice shot, don't worry. Were you thinking of appealing?

I'm thinking about it. How are the rules now regarding the ratio going down etc.?

I think the new rule is an appeal, if rejected doesn't have an impact on your ratio. If accepted it doesn't either.

It's a nice photo, a real shame it was rejected.

It could be because of the crop. I read somewhere they reject if its an uneasy crop. I myself think it's uneasy being off centre, and I'm really wanting to see the remainder of the gear thats covered too...

But what would I know...

Thanks for all the responses so far!
However, I'd appreciate it if a screener could give his opinion aswell.

Outstanding photo, I think it's a great motive! Shame if it's not accepted. I'd try an appeal.. If it's not accepted it's A.net's loss.

Great shot, which I would appeal. Even if - based on my 6 year long experience here with only one accepted appeal in this time - it will most probably be rejected again (for whatever reason), what can you loose? OK, the acceptance rate will drop again, but that's really not the end of the world, otherwise I should jump off the window right now  Wink

Too bad. Don't let it discourage you though! It was a great shot in my opinion. It's nice to push the motive limits every once in awhile, whether it's A.net material or not. You never know when you might get something great!

I love the shot, it's amazing, but in my opinion, the angle it was taken at is too shallow. If you could be just a little bit more off to the side, where you could see fan AND the side of the engine, that would be ideal.

Great shot Kas, it is certainly different and as far as I'm concerned I'd like to see it in the database. As already said, if it's not done yet, I would appeal.

Kas,

I like it. But i'd say it just looks slightly unbalanced. Perhaps a tighter crop on the left. Good luck with it.

Chances of a motive reject winning on an appeal are pretty slim.

Better luck with your next attempt.

Perhaps it the engine pod was centered right in the middle of the frame? Great detail bigthumbsup

But wouldn't that be motive aswell, due to the weird crop of the gear. I'll give it a go on PS anyways to see how that turns out.

You are correct Martin. I'll try a different crop some other time maybe.
