Pre-Screeening Advice Please...

Sun Jan 28, 2007 11:08 pm

With the weather being a bit grim this weekend, I'm going back through reworking a few old images and came across this one.

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 731 File size: 713kb

A familiar angle for MAN with the turn out onto 24L, but one I'm never quite sure of the best crop. I'd appreciate any feedback on it, both the crop and general standard.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve well the crop is ok but it is not level, needs a touch of CCW and the nose is blown out which depending on the original may or may not be fixable.

Good luck, Jid

Hello again Steve.

My favourite angle  wink .

Jid is right (as usual) - the angle is wrong there. You need to level it in this kind of photo so that the background grass horizon is level. The nose is a problem and the quality as it stands now won't make it - it is rather grainy.

If you would like me to take a look feel free to send something along. The photo deserves a place just for the excellent light in those fan blades.

Take care.

The image is extremly grainy, especially on the lower half of the fuselage. i don't think the quality is there on this one.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The comments about the levelling are really helpful, as I struggled to find a reference point with so many horizontal but uneven lines.

The grain is a fair cop - this was a dark image that has been lifted with the levels, but too much.

Thanks for the offer Paul, I don't have access to the image tonight but I'll have another pop at it tomorrow and then maybe take you up on that.

The crop looks good but, apart from being very very grainy, it really needs some CCW rotation. Best luck.

Looks like you had your camera on a high ISO setting, given the pretty good light and amount of grain.

Don't forget to check your switches!

Hi

The aircraft being backlit favours the loss in quality, so I think this one won´t make it. The whites are blown out and it deserves a little CCW rotation, as it was already posted.

I think that levelling this one is more instinctive rather than following a certain line or horizontal reference.

Cheers!
