Some Recent Rejections

Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:32 am

I'd be grateful for some opinions on a couple of recent rejections.

These two were rejected for quality.

And this one for motive.
The only reason I can think of is the cropped engine, but does that really distract that much? The whole engine can't be included because of foreground clutter and the centering in the original.

Not on a monitor on which I can comment on the quality, but that's one hell of a spot you shot the the KE and FI birds from... definitely two to keep for the personal collection if nothing else.

Robert, those are very nice shots!

I'm not an expert, but here are my thoughts concerning those rejections:

- 757 - It seems like the fuselage and the left wing are out of focus. I suppose the focusing point was somewhere in the middle of the right wing, so there isn't enough depth of field.

- Korean 747 - The area near the cockpit and the nose seems a bit soft. I'm not sure what's the reason. It could be that the lens is not as sharp near the edges of the frame. To be honest, I'm very surprised that this one didn't come through - beautiful shot.

- CX 742 - I'd bet on the cropped engine as well.

Cathay: I agree that it must be the engine, and that the rejection is rather harsh.
You could try to exclude that engine, not that I think it looks much better:
