What Can I Do To Improve Quality?

Wed Feb 21, 2007 9:36 pm

Hi there,

I had these rejected for quality, without further explanation, so I expect many things to be wrong:

this one was rejected for quality and dark (I expected the "dark" part, but I thought that the dark fuselage - natural alu-finish - looked better if the sun was not shining directly on it. Just my thoughts, which was obviously wrong):

Any thoughts on how to improve (or should I just go back and shoot again  Smile , after all, it is a preserved aircraft, so it is not going to disappear...)?

Best regards,

Walter

Hi Walt,
Being a fan of detailed close up's I like the motive.
However I think you got the aperture wrong, it is getting a little unsharp from halfway to the front.
Maybe you have to try with F16 or even smaller to get enough DOF from this close range.

What it really lacks in my view is a nice background, a bit of blue sky with some clouds would probably make it more interesting.
Big version: Width: 1200 Height: 812 File size: 441kb

For me an F104 is a dramatic A/C(or a pipe with oversized fenders depending my mood  Smile ) so if you could combine this Starfighter with a pitch black rain cloud that would be awesome............ or maybe a sunset.......... anything apart from this "white nothing".
The truth lives in one’s mind, it doesn’t really exist

Thanks for the feedback, Willem!

I will definitively go back (several times) to find some more interesting/dramatic background, and take more care of DOF! Since it is preserved, it will not disappear that quickly  Smile , although I want to shoot it properly before this marvelous finish gets too dirty...

Greetings,

Walter
