Help With This Shot?

Thu Mar 01, 2007 3:52 pm

Hi Guys,
I have had the below shot rejected.
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/rejections/big/20070228_kemblea.jpg
Too soft and contrast. I can sort the sort out but not sure ref the contrast?
I have Photoshop Elements V5. But have not had it long and still learning how to use it.
It could be that the shot can not be saved, but the screener did ask me to re-edit.
Thanks in advance.
Damien.

Hi Damien,

very nice capture there. I like the motive and the mood with the given light. Picture does
look a bit soft. Regarding the contrasts it might have been rejected due to parts of the
buildings being a bit overexposed on the sunny side.

You can try to reduce contrasts in PS a bit and play with levels to give it more punch without
overexposing the whites too much.

If your original was a RAW shot, try reducing the exposure compensation value before converting
the photo to TIF or whatever fileformat you prefer for your postprocessing in PS. At least with
Canon RAW files this method works quite good. You can adjust the contrasts much better afterwards.

better?

It's over-sharpened. To me the first one was better. However, the main thing I notice is that the pic has a sort of cloudy, milky look to it. Do you agree?

Looking at it on my laptop shows it very over-shapened!
Still some work to do!

Damien,
I think you have a quality problem there. The subjcet is very nice but you have to be really good at editing if you want to save it. I personally couldn't...because there is a general lack in contrast there, inthe whole pic, so that one can hardly distinguish which is the main subject...  Sad
