No More Line Up Shots At AMS

Sun Mar 11, 2007 6:19 am

Another great spot at Schiphol is history  Angry

This time it's the famous line up spot at the beginning of runway 36L (Polderbaan).

After a talk with Tim and Eduard this morning at Schiphol, they told me there was put a fence on the small dike that give access to this spot.
After a quik look at the "Polderbaan" it now look like this!!

Big version: Width: 800 Height: 525 File size: 226kb

This is the second spot that will disappear together with the "spottersplaats" along runway 24/06.
What is happening with this spotter friendly Airport Confused

This was one of my favourite spots at the Airport.
So no more close up and head on line up shots this coming summer evenings.  crying

I was planning on giving the local council a call last week, but I didn't get around to it. I spoke to Jorgen (with the crossed out o) Syversen this evening and he told me Tamon Takeoka (are you still following me) said you could walk on the other side of the small canal, however I think that is farmland, and thus not a good idea.

Park at the cemetery and walk from there if that's still possible.

Coool, after pissing of the farmer at the eastern side we can now piss of the famers at the western side! Maybe we can open a bet on which farmer will snap first and kill a spotter! Seriously though, I think we should not invade the farmers land.

Shame the spot was closed though. Thought it had already been mentioned here, otherwise I would have made a post mysefl.

Let's hope they know that that is not a good idea and will not try to do that or tell other people to do it... Don't want people who only happen to visit AMS for a weekend twice a year mess it up for the locals who do abide by the rules. (not making insinuations, but it has happened before, Ostend comes to mind where non-Belgian spotters climbed the wooden fence to get airside)

Does anybody have an exact date when the Spottersplaats at the Kaagbaan is going to be closed ? I heard something of May this year, so I intend to go there just May 1st.

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't look good at all.

Currently, during the weekend cars are parked ON the grass and the bicycle track along the Polderbaan (36L/18R). Why? It's not allowed and there is enough parking space only 50 meters away. I wonder when they close down that spot. There are also huge amounts of waste (cans, wrappers, stuff) thrown into the water along the runway during the weekends. It makes me sad.
