Who's Camera Changed Time Automatically?

Wed Mar 14, 2007 3:13 am

I know my D-80 didn't and I'm a little dissapointed condering that I updated the firmware recently. Granted nothing about the firmware 'advertised' adjusting for the DST change (though I know it is designed to compensate for 'normal' DST), but it would have been nice. Yes, I know time stamps on the stick are almost useless, but it's nice to have it right if possible.

A neat tip... if your camera supports PTP/PictBridge mode and you hook it up via USB to your computer, you can have windows sync the camera's clock to your computer's clock. Once it's connected, go to Control Panel, Scanners and Cameras, right click the camera, and choose properties. There should be a tickbox to enable time synching.

I have a D2x with the latest firmware (sort of the D2xs firmware) and it did change time correctly.

I don't know the D80 features/options, but the D2x has a DST on/off toggle in the menu. Maybe the D80 is the same?

Edit: According to this site the DST is in the same menu location as the D2x: Setup, World Time. Under there you'll find some options including DST on/off. If it's the same as the D2x, the default is OFF.

Yes, and it is set to ack DST and make the change, just not on the "correct" date... yet.

Golly, I wasn't able to sleep wondering if my cameras would change the time on their own. Maybe I'll check them some time.

Don't worry about it Jeff, you can also correct the time in Photoshop afterwards  Smile

No way, that would be manipulation. Besides, I would prefer to get it right "in camera".  Smile
