Canon 30D Resolution

Sun Mar 25, 2007 1:16 am

Using the 30D and opened some pictures with Photoshop. The resolution of the images is being shown as only 72 dpi which seems low to me. Would like the resolution to be up nearer to 300 dpi. Is there something i need to be setting in the camera settings. I have the image quality set to the L setting. Input and views would be appreciated, thankyou

Try setting the image resolution in Photoshop to 300dpi. As long as the camera is at the maximum setting, the image file should be okay.

cannot understand when i take an image with my 300D, its resolution when opened in photoshop is 150 ppi, but when i take the same image using my 30D and the same lens, the resolution is only 72 ppi. Both cameras are set to the L setting. I would like to be able to print larger sized pictures

Quoting F4phantom (Reply 3):
150 ppi

72 ppi

These numbers are only instructions for the printer. You can change them in PS if you wish.

As has been suggested, the dpi is a figure used in the print process. It has nothing to do with camera settings.
