Multiple Exposures On A 400D

Wed Apr 04, 2007 2:55 pm

I was wondering if there is a setting on the Rebels that lets you do multiple exposures on the same picture, to create the trail effect, while keeping the same background. Basically, I would like to expose the same file multiple times, with the camera compensating the exposure time for this. Does anyone know if you can set this or how?

Thanks

I don't know about that particular camera. But it's easy enough to do in Photoshop after the fact, and you'd have more control.

Hi there,

on my Canon 300D (Digital Rebel) there's that thing calles AEB on the first page of the menu. You select it and then you can choose how you want the exposures to come out, i.e. -2EV, 0 , +2EV or -1EV, 0 , +1EV then you hold the shutter and it will take the three pictures. You probably want to be in Av mode for this one.

Cheers,

You can use the bracketing function that allows you to apply different exposures to the same frame. The steps are variable, look for the AEB function on your camera settings.

Can't be done in camera. Bracketing isn't the same as a multiple exposure, it's simply 0/-/+ ( or any order of that) exposure compensation on three consecutive frames.

Not sure what you mean by the trail effect, but it sounds like you want something similar to second curtain flash.

As others have said with the 400D bracketing is possible. I use it only if I am facing really tough conditions and I don't have time to get the proper metering. It has come in handy a few times but I use it sparingly.
