MCO is horrible for spotting, so I wouldn't advise going there. Cops are always kicking spotters out of the perimeter.

As for Tampa, there a several good spots. you have the upper level parking garage, the fishing hole, the bowling alley parking lot, the employee parking lot,the beach, and the dirt lot next to the shopping mall and the general aviation apron.
I'm sure if you look around on the net, you'll find directions to these spots or ask around from the locals, since they'll kindly provide you with tons of information. I'll try to provide ya a map.

Cheers.

And who showed you these spots Kevin?  Smile

Here is a Google Earth file for MCO. Please do not abuse these spots.

With TPA, the 9th floor short term parking lot is always a good bet. In the morning you can shoot 18R/36L operations, and then in the afternoon you can shoot 18L/36R operations.

At TPA there are numerous spots....I can sit here and write a book on all the spots. If you want, go through the DB and find some pics from TPA that strike your fancy, and then I can tell which spot it is and everything you need to know about it.

Also, Idle (DLX737200) has one of those google earth maps for TPA...I don't know why he didn't post it....

They'll let you sit up there? Man I wish they'd do that at MCO... not that the parking garages really even give you a great view at MCO.

I found the TPA parking garage to be about as good as it gets for photography. Absolutely no police presence whatever. Excellent views. Only problem in the summer? Extreme humidity that had me dripping wet 10 minutes after getting out of my rental car.

We've sat up there for what seemed to be days at a time without any trouble. Security wise I say TPA is one of the best airports around, very friendly for the most part. I normally just give Airport Opps and Airport Police a call and never have a problem.
