Potential Candidates (first Time Submission)

Wed May 02, 2007 11:37 am

Hello all  Smile I have always admired all of the shots on this wonderful website - the photographers do an amazing job of capturing the true grace and beauty of the aviation industry. Being a member, and a budding photographer, I decided now that I have enough courage to make a couple first time submissions to the database. Of course, I decided it is best to get some constructive criticisim from the pro's before doing so  Big grin any help is greatly appreciated. For information purposes, I shoot a Nikon D50 with a 70-300mm telephoto, and I use Photoshop CS2 for photo editing (don't we all?  Wink )

Hi,

I'm hardly a pro, but here's what I see. All of the above pictures are affected by heat haze which makes them pretty much no good for uploading to a.net. On such days I just shoot approaches or take offs where the aircraft are well off the ground to get away from the heat haze.

Ah, I see your point. I do have a few that I shot on rotation - I'll put em up here in a bit

Cheers.

You should start off by downsizing the images. I believe the max image length on the long side is 1600 and the two I looked at were way over that. The image size restrictions are on the upload page if you want to check them.

Welcome to airliners.net!

Actually no. Some can't afford it, and some are honest.

Tyson, the following guide might help you with your initial steps of getting photos accepted on A.net:

It's all been said already!

Anyway, the heat haze ruins almost every shot, which makes impossible to upload them.
We can also see that all the photos are grainy. I've noticed from the Exif that you used ISO400, but why that ? It was a sunny day, so you should had used the lowest ISO option!

I agree Fly747, in the summer I like to get shots from approach and takeoff because of the heat haze caused by the runway.
