Need Help With Editing

Tue May 15, 2007 12:40 am

Hy all,
the following shot have been rejected three times. So probably it's about my bad editing skills. Cannot find the old, rejected version of it (take a look at my post Worth Appealing? (by LIPH Mar 27 2007 in Aviation Photography)), but the very first time was rejected for distance (the first one was different crop), second one for being oversharpened and the following one for soft+personal (message says "plane is soft") :

I'm seeking again opinions about this rejection and possible candidates for editing the original which I can provide. Thanks to all.

Hi Giovanni

It´s indeed soft. Specially on the forward section of the fuselage, landing gears and on a couple more spots. What sharpening configuration are you using?

Cheers!

Cannot understand how an almost-silhoutte can be considered soft...? I can try a selective sharpening...

But I guess that the silhouette itself is soft. The transition lines between the background and the dark areas that depict the aircraft are soft. I´m sure some selective sharpening can provide you with better results.  Smile
I could give it a try if you wanted. What values did you use in USM?

Cheers  bigthumbsup

The front of the aircraft is indeed soft. It actually looks more out of focus (DOF with using a wide apperture?) or possibly motion blur. Its a great shot, but I don't think that can be rescued I'm afraid.

Right. You might want to reduce the radius to 0,2 and make some passes on, for example, 200 amount. That´s what I do when I´ve got these tricky pictures that are soft but can get easily jagged.
Good luck with it! Big grin
