Hello,
Anybody ever see this. Photographed with a 600mm Canon and a 2x.

I photographed this in Boston during a morning rwy 9 departure.
Any thoughts,
Thanks

I think I remember Javibi posting a shot a lot like the one you have taken. It was a 737 or A32x side on in the desert IIRC and it had huge reflection, almost like it was on water. It was in a thread about heat haze a while ago. Cool effect though.

Hi Marck,

It can happen anywhere... This one was shot in Luxembourg (even though less spectacular)... not really a desert climate...:D

Yours is a nice shot. At least very special. I don't know if it can go on A.net. But as far as I can see, the nose looks soft and must be edited.

Good luck.

Very nice shot by the way! But yeah this happens..
The lens your using is it the EF600mm? and with 2x that's over 1200mm, then you will certainly see this type of heat haze 'magnified' as you are shooting through more air.

Thanks guys... alas, it was rejected. I don't think I will ever have any luck using a 2x because of how it makes things slightly soft in focus...Except of course the moon silhouetts..

p.s Ya think if I sharpened it.....? But what about the grain?? Sad

Neat Image, Noise Ninja.

Both will do sharpening and noise reduction.

Nice effect, I like the shot very much. I can try to edit it, if you wish so, you have my mail. I do not think A.net will ever accept it, though  Sad

The effect is similar, but Mark's shot is nicer:

This one, also not for here, has also some strange effect:

look how the runway lights seem to be diverting to the centre of the runway at the 2000 ft markers:

Heat haze is generally NOT good, so I usually just watch planes during the worst hours, but sometimes you can get nice shots anyway.
This shot will not make it on to Anet for all the rejection reasons in the book, but nice nevertheless. This looks like a water runway, so this Ryan 737 should have had floats

I really like the effect Mark, especially if you focus your view on the nose the engines look very surreal...maybe I need to get out more though  Wink

Take care (see you soon..?)
