Scanner For Negatives

Fri Jul 13, 2007 10:09 pm

I was looking online for a cheap scanner to scan my old 35mm negatives, and came across the Epson Perfection V100. It seems pretty good for the price. What do you guys think?

I don't know that particular model, but I've got an Epson Perfection 4870 and it does a great job, even scanning medium format neg's.

Whatever model you get, make sure it comes with some form of dust removal software. Mine came with "Digital ICE" and it does a good job, but when ICE is turned on, it takes seven minutes per 35mm slide to scan/clean an image. But it's worth it to save me spending even longer doing it manually.

I think with scanners you get what you pay for, just like almost anything in life.

I used to use a Nikon Coolscan 4000, and it did a great job.
