Colour Rejection, I Don`t See It..

Sun Jul 15, 2007 6:20 am

Hello,

I had these two shots rejected for colour:

http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...0070713_D-FKMAVenghaus7upload4.jpg
http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/r...C-MCBVenghaus5uploadairliners3.jpg

In the first one colour was the only rejection reason, plus there was a comment from the screener saying "new". Does that mean to reedit it or?
The second one got colour and also contrast.. I don't see any of it here..

Can someone help me to see the issues!!! Is the first one maybe worth to try an appeal?

Regards
Björn

The first one looks as if its a bit green/yellowish. I'm not getting the screener comment either.
2nd one looks kinda OK to me.
It could use a bit more contrast maybe and the colour rej. is difficult to see for me atm.

Björn, both pictures have a greenish/yellowish color cast of which you'll have to get rid. The easiest way to see the color cast is to compare your shot to either a perfectly white surface or another well balanced photo (tons of those in the db  Wink).
When adding contrast to the second shot take care not to completely blow out the nose which is pretty bright already.

The shots do have a greenish/yellowish cast to them but i think that the last shot has a very little amount of it and it also looks like that because of green grass reflecting off the bottom of the fuselage and wings?

checkmark  That is exactly what it did.. it was on a approach over a grass field while I took that picture, and the grass was reflecting at the bottom.. As for the contrast I might at a little bit but I don't think it might look better that way...

The thing is, that the fuselage of the An-2 just is not complete white (I know the last photo is shown that way, but it is just not true. It completely looked yellowed and that it is what the photo shows! Why do I have to edit the colours of the plane to make it look better and not show it the way it was when I photographed it (in my understanding that is what this site wants...)

Anyway Here are to edited versions... are they any better?

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 768 File size: 855kb

less yellow and less green...

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 768 File size: 492kb

little more contrast and a little less yellow and green...

Cheers
Björn

P.S.: Sorry for the late reply but I was away on business over the weekend

In that case drop a note about it to the screeners (there's a "Comment to screeners" field on the 2nd upload page where you can do that) as someoone you doesn't know the plane or the circumstances of your shooting wouldn't know about the issue.

Yep!

Good luck!

Looking better. If you re-upload dont forget to mention about the grass in the shot with the A300.

The An got rejected again, and again only for colour! also on appeal...
Right now I am thinking it might be the saturation which causes the problem.. (over saturated, but I am not sure...)

As for the colour it self.. The shot had the same white balance as this shot taken short before (which definately has clear white surface):

and also this shot was taken maybe two seconds after the one I uploaded, and the light probably didn't change in hat short time, also here the the same white balance as for the dimona, and as for the uploaded shot, and the nose at the right side is definately white, and it was white while I took this photo! (It is completely unedited, just resized!)
Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 685 File size: 413kb

So is the colour rejection maybe for the saturation??

Any way is this version any better, I set the white balance to the fuselage is it any better? Is it worth to leave it in the queue?? Maybe it is a little oversharpened!?! But what about the colour?

Anyway a comment from a screener would be greatly appreciated!

Björn
