It's That Time Again, Photo Sale Help Needed

Fri Jul 27, 2007 4:28 pm

Hi guys,

So, this time it looks more promising for me. After many hit-misses I might finally be able to sell a photo.
In my reply I asked in what price range she was thinking, and it was around the same as what I had in mind.

But my question is, how do I go from there. I've never made it this far Big grin

I will be editing the photo in question this afternoon when I get back from work. Do I send it to the person via E-mail or a site where I can drop it and she can pick it up?

And about the payment... I have a paypal account. I just noticed a money sending form from which I conclude that she only needs my E-mail adrress. Is that correct? Would that company need a paypal account as well?
Or should I use my normal bankaccount?

Regards,

Kas

Hey Kas, congrats!  Smile

That's usually something I ask them before sending the file out. Certainly not everybody wants his mailbox clogged up with a 3mb file, so I ask whether they don't mind it as email, or if they prefer a link to the high-res photo. Usually they go for option number two in my experience Big grin ...certainly more convenient.

Can't help you with the paypal issue as I've never used it before, I used to do all sales via transaction to the bank account.

Cheers and good luck!

Hey Florian,

How are you doing?  Smile
Funny you're the first person to answer as the photo in question is from INN  Wink

Thanks. I'll do the same then. A link certainly sounds more convenient.

Ciao!

Kas,

Just ask them how they would like to pay too, some companies don't want to use Paypal.

Hi guys, it's me again

So I got an E-mail back. We have an agreement
Price is settled. That just leaves the methods of transferring the photo & money.

First the photo:
She states e-mail could work (up to 5MB). Otherwise Skyping it to them (I have that, but have never sent an image with it) could be an option aswell as setting up a FTP (WTH? I don't know how/what).
The file is 4.08MB

Second the money:
She says they are a US based company and she asks what options would be best for me.
(Yes, I thought they were Canadian, but I only read as far as Vancouver and missed the "WA, US" behind it  )

Do any American A.nutters also have any idea what would be more convenient as to the money transferring?

Just thought of something else aswell. Do I need to write up a contract of somesort?
Anything else I might have overlooked?

Thanks in advance!

Kas

P.S. A small example of the photo in question   :

FTP means uploading it to their server. You need login data and a small piece of software. Just e-mail if that's fine.

Be sure to state clearly what usage the sale covers (hopefully you're in agreement about that already) but personally, I don't think a contract is necessary. Ultimately you need to trust each other a little bit, anyway. Others may disagree, though.

Hi Peter,

I think I'll try to E-mail it in stead. Much easier I think and the photo is within the 5MB limit.
As for contract, I've discussed this with someone else, and you're right.
I believe I can trust them, so I'll just let that contract idea go (I'll keep the e-mails though).

This only leaves the payment. Someone?  Smile

If you have agreed a price then just send them a paypal invoice requesting payment and just send the pic via e-mail.

I found it. Cool, I didn't know it had that function!
I'll try to do that then. Thanks for your advice.

Congrats on the sale!

Remember, 4.08M image email attachment will likely be over 5M. Just check your Sent folder to see the actual message size. If it is over 5M, I would follow-up with simple text email to make sure they received the photo.
